The Big Deciem Sale- What’s in my cart!

Every year, Deciem, the giant skin care company- most notable for it’s brand “The Ordinary”, does a sale in November. They used to do a Black Friday Sale but rather than have people make impulse purchases, decided to offer a discount the whole month of November to encourage slow and thoughtful shopping. Dubbed Slow-vember, it is a great chance to stock up on your favorites!

I use A LOT of “The Ordinary” Products. I find their formulations are really effective, and they are really affordable. I encourage anyone starting out in their skin care journey to try their products because if a formula isn’t right for you, you didn’t spend an arm and a leg finding out the hard way.

I would also encourage anyone that has a good skin care regime to look into the brand, as they have some incredible serums that can really make your skin even better.

One of the downsides is that there is a LOT of information to sift through. If in doubt, you can reach out to customer service and they will help create a regime for you or suggest products that may be beneficial. I am also happy to answer any questions you may have about the products!

Here is what is in my cart!

Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5

This is a desert island product for me. I use it morning and night and even use it on my hair! If you buy nothing else- buy this. It kills any other hyaluronic acid serum on the market both by its effectiveness and its price point.

Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%

Next on my list is their niacinamide serum. It targets textural irregularities, dryness, dullness and signs of congestion. I alternate this on days I am not wearing vitamin C as it is advised not to combine them. My skincare goal is always to have plump juicy skin and this helps me achieve it!

Glycolic Acid 7% Exfoliating Toner

This product has a cult like following- for a reason. First off, if you are new to chemical exfoliation, please read my article here. This product is FANTASTIC for a lot of different areas- not just your face. I use this on my legs, bikini area and underarms- in addition to my face. It is strong- so please patch test before slathering all over your face, and you may experience some initial purging if you are new to chemical exfoliants- but the pay off is well worth it!

Lactic Acid 10% + HA

The is a godsend for me. Lactic acid works really well for my skin type- it helps keep pimples and congestion at bay. I use this at night at least once a week (I alternate with retinol). If you are new to chemical exfoliation, this is a great starting point. I used to use the Sunday Riley Lactic Acid serum but found better results with this and for less than 1/10th of the price- I feel much better knowing I’m not wasting money!

Glycolipid Cream Cleanser

I always double cleanse, and after my oil cleanser, I like to use this cream cleanser. I especially like the fact that it cleanses the skin while protecting the skin barrier and keeping my skin hydrated. According to their website, this cleanser is formulated to be non-stripping to respect the skin's natural pH. Again, I have used more expensive cleansers and find that this one does the job just as well!

100% Plant-Derived Squalane

Face oils are a must have if you have dry skin like me. The best thing about Squalane is that it is found naturally in the skin so it is non-comedogenic. (basically means it won’t clog your pores- so it is great for those that may be blemish prone). It is also great to use on your hair to protect against heat and breakage!

EUK 134 0.1%

I came across this product because I was looking for something to help with anti aging. I found this a year ago and what really prompted me to buy it was that in the reviews section, so many people were claiming that it helped their rosacea. My husband struggles with rosacea occasionally so I thought this may help. Since using it, he has not had any flare ups and he found it helped with his under eye discoloration and puffiness. I can’t really tell you what it is, so I copied this from their website!

EUK 134™ 0.1%, is an oil-like serum designed to continuously support your skin with antioxidants and leave your skin looking brighter. By using a self-regenerating molecule that mimics the effects of two powerful antioxidants found naturally in your skin, this high-strength serum actively protects your skin from the visible effects of damage caused by environmental stressors.

The low price of this formula does not reflect EUK-134™'s extremely high potency. EUK-134™ is by far one of the strongest antioxidants available. While EUK-134™ itself is very costly, the suggested concentration in any formula is below 0.05% and most formulas do not use this maximum suggestion. Our formula uses EUK-134™ at an extremely high 0.1% concentration and we do not believe any product on the market today uses a higher concentration than this amount.

Salicylic Acid 2% Solution

Another acid- this one really helps with keeping pimples at bay. They were out of stock on this for ages and since then they have reformulated. I loved the old formula but this one still helps keep my pimples away! For the price, this is an excelled Salicylic acid serum and I don’t find it as drying as some other formulas on the market.

AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution

Another product with a cult like following and almost a perfect 5 star rating is this peeling solution. This stuff is strong but it really works. Please though, read the instructions and don’t overdo it! Start with just a minute or two once a week before going the full 10 minutes. One bottle will last you ages which is great value.

So my cart is full and I am about to hit purchase! If you have any other great recommendations, let me know in the comments!
